High Speed Connections with @CathyBrowne

If you haven’t met Cathy you must. When the title says “high speed connections” it should not indicate confusion and angst but rather perpetual engagement and an ever increasing wealth of social media friends which spills offline just as easily as ice cream melts in summer. Cathy is smooth and not in the ickey snake-oil salesman way. She’s smooth because there is nothing to hide, no huge quest for global domination and certainly no deeply hidden dark motivation. She just wants to know people and to help people know each other.

Of all the people I (Ken) have ever met online not one person has come close to equaling the amount of contacts Cathy Browne has made for the staff and me. She doesn’t do it because she expects huge checks in the mail – though I suppose if she received them she would keep a bit and share the rest. She has been responsible for at least a dozen wonderful introductions which have help Social Media Edge become a great place for information and people who have become long time connections within the industry.

She is also an accomplished photographer. You can see her photos on her Flickr stream as well as other places – and I am sure we will talk about those on the show today as there was a very well written article about her in DailyDot.com just a few days ago. Oh, there’s one thing you may not notice about Cathy’s photos: she’s legally blind.

Cathy isn’t on the show because she is a blind photographer. Although we think that is a pretty amazing feat she has something else to share with the world and that is a deep bank of community involvement and personal interaction. In fact if you own or operate a business and you don’t have the type of community Cathy can bring might I suggest you offer her large sums of money to help set you straight from your misguided or short-sighted ways?
